Wombat provides a support program for public housing tenants in the West, called Tenancy Plus (formaly known as SHASP). Tenancy Plus is an early intervention program that aims to assist people experiencing difficulty in social housing. The emphasis is on sustaining and supporting tenancies, with the aim of preventing homelessness and improving outcomes for tenants.
At the moment Tenancy Plus can only support people in Public Housing, although in the next few months it is expected that we will begin supporting people in Community Housing.
Tenancy Plus can assist tenants to establish, strengthen, or maintain their tenancy by providing case management, advocacy, support and information.
Tenancy Plus can also assist tenants with completing priority transfers under the Safety category. This could include people who have experienced family violence, ongoing anti social behavior by neighbours causing the tenant to be unsafe, or risk of a tenant reoffending after returning to their property after being in prison.
***Please note Tenancy Plus cannot assist with any other categories of housing transfer***
Tenancy Plus provides the following services:
- Support for new public housing tenants to achieve sustainable tenancies;
- Intensive support for at risk tenants to avoid them becoming homeless.
- Assistance with Priority Transfers under the Safety category.
Tenancy Plus can help with issues such as :
